Trip To Sun Island |
Revel in the dramatic landscape of Bolivia as you savor Inca legends amid ancient ruins…
| Overview | |
‘Roof of the Americas’, the dramatic landscape of Bolivia begs to be explored. With the baronial, snow tipped Andes in the backdrop, drive along the 3000m-4000m high Altiplano (high plateau) and absorb this stunning, virtually unexplored landscape. Capture a sense of local life as you pass small mud houses on your way to Lake Titicaca, whose gemlike waters gave birth to the Inca civilization. The sapphire colored waters will add magic to the almost surreal view of the dramatic Andean mountains and leave you bewitched. At the Strait of Tiquina explore the picturesque naval base of the Bolivian army and add a slice of Bolivia’s culture with a visit to the festive Copacabana. Bolivia’s colonial lineage is evident in its churches and Spanish architecture. Legend and folklore will accompany you as you cruise the waters of Lake Titicaca to one of its treasures, ‘Isla Del Sol’ or the Island of the Sun. Cradle of the Inca civilization, it is revered as the birthplace of Manco Capac, one of the earliest Incas. Legend and mythology will enfold you as you tour the ancient ruins, the ‘fountain of youth’, quaint villages and historic Pilkokaina palace of the Incas. Continue on to Kasani on the Bolivian border as you savor the magical tales of the Incas. Add a dash of colonial culture with a visit to the red Andean stone church at Pomata followed by the islands of Juli and Ilave. Once a key Jesuit area, Juli has some impressive churches and architecture. As the tour winds to an end, the magic of Bolivia will shroud your senses in its dramatic beauty.
