Get a flavor of the culture of Bolivia as you visit the traditional market of Tarabuco on this shopping tour. The Tarabuco culture is one of the most ancient indigenous cultures of South America which has preserved its values and customs. Situated about seventy kilometers from the colonial city of Sucre amongst the gently rolling hills of the region, Tarabuco has colorful markets with shops selling beautiful handicrafts like Alpaca wool sweaters and weavings with geometric designs. The market is the meeting point for the Yamparas Indians who come here to sell their produce. Walk around and meet the friendly locals dressed in elaborately woven ponchos and decorative ‘monteras’ (leather hats shaped after Spanish Conquistador helmets). With a bagful of colorful handicrafts and a glimpse of the culture of Bolivia, this shopping tour is something you wouldn’t want to miss.
