Private Delhi Temples Tour: ISKCON, Lotus and Birla Temples
Visit three of Delhi's famous temples and appreciate their architectural styles
| Attractions and things to do - Private Delhi Temples Tour: ISKCON, Lotus and Birla Temples | |
Delhi, the capital city of India, is a melting pot of cultures with many mosques, temples and churches scattered around the city. This tour will take you to three of Delhi’s most important temples. The ISKCON temple constructed by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness is a beautiful temple dedicated to the Hindu God Krishna. A little way from ISKCON is the Lotus temple of the Baha’i faith. The lotus has been an evocative symbol of beauty and purity, representative of divinity in Indian iconography. The building, shaped like a lotus promotes the central theme of Bahá'u'lláh's (the founder of the Baha’i faith) message that humanity is one single race and that the day has come for its unification in one global society. The Birla Temple, also known as the Lakshminarayan Temple is dedicated to Lakshmi (the Hindu Goddess of wealth) and her divine consort, Lord Narayana (Vishnu). Inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi with the stipulation that it should be open to people of all castes (including the untouchables) and faiths, the temple is one of the most important temples in Delhi
