City Sightseeing Tour of Sucre

Sucre & Textile Museum of the Asur Foundation

Sucre will enfold you in its rich legacy as you stroll along lanes dotted with colonial architecture

Overview
History abounds in Bolivia’s constitutional capital of Sucre, considered by locals and visitors alike as its most beautiful city. Set in a picturesque valley and surrounded by mountains, the ‘Athens of America’ has a rich cultural heritage bequeathed by Spanish colonizers.

This UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site is dotted with white colonial architecture and red tiled roofs with many of the original buildings still intact. Sucre has several impressive museums and beautiful colonial churches. Stroll around the monastery of San Felipe de Neri and explore the kitsch Cathedral with its landmark bell tower. Recapture the Bolivian War for Independence at the House of Independence whose walls are adorned with relics and art pertaining to the country’s freedom movement.

The Textile Museum of the ASUR Foundation is a riot of colors and varieties of tapestries, weavings and embroidery from Bolivia’s indigenous population.
