Southern Tour and Desert Express |
From scenic landscapes, wildlife to the exciting Desert Express-this Namibian trip will enthral you
| Overview | |
Amidst beautiful Namibian landscapes, learn of the country’s history as well. You are sure to come back in awe of Namibian patriotism after spending time at well-known war memorials. Feel the courage of Herero chiefs as you visit Okahandja’sHerero chiefs’ grave who lost their lives in a failed rebellion against the German colonialists in 1904. Sipping a pint of local “sundowner” served on top of a Kalahari dune will definitely interest you. You will feel quite tiny as you stroll through the Quiver Tree Forest (Kokerboom). Here in the midst of these 9-meter tall trees you might find cheetahs lurking nearby. You will find the second largest canyon in the world, Fish River Canyon as breathtaking as the Grand Canyon. Just before Aus, you will stop at the POW camp and see the relics of the homes built by the prisoners. Stop for a quick photo session at Sperrgebiet, the forbidden Diamond area and capture images of the unique dunes and mountains. Visit the Garub waterhole and try guessing the origin of the feral horses. You can steal a glance of jackass penguins from Diaz Point and if you are lucky of some playful dolphins. Check out the museum at Duwiseb Castle. You will be surprised to see how majestic this castle still remains. On board a vehicle, travel into the heart of the Namib Desert and drive past towering sand dunes. At Namib Naukluft Park, you can expect to encounter oryx, springbok, ostriches, warthog and giraffes. From the comfort of a five star Desert Express train, watch the bewitching Namibian sunrise and sunset. These scenic delights of Namibia will leave a lasting impression on you.
