Phetchaburi Historical Sightseeing Tour
Trace the history of Thailand and Buddha in historic Phetchaburi and visit the Khao Luang Cave
| Attractions and things to do - Phetchaburi Historical Sightseeing Tour | |
Get away from the noisy metropolis of Bangkok and travel to the old historic town of Phetchaburi, just about 100 miles south of Bangkok, to learn more about the fascinating culture of Thailand. Its laid-back atmosphere makes it an excellent getaway from the noise and pollution of Thailand's capital city. Visit the numerous old temples and cave monasteries lining the town and get a glimpse into the austere lives of the Buddhist monks. This quiet and laid-back town is best known for the beautiful Summer Palace of King Rama IV built around 1860. It is world of grandeur and splendour graced with royal halls, palaces, and temples, built in Thai, neoclassical Western and Chinese architectural styles. The imposing Khao Luang cave temple is the most important cave of Phetchaburi as it is houses a large image of Buddha placed by King Mongkut (Rama IV). The cave also contains a Wat (temple-monastery) that houses a 170 Buddha images. Thailand is synonymous with Buddha - learn everything you need to know about both in this exotic land here
