Fly to the land where the world’s highest dunes meet the Atlantic Ocean on this Namibian vacation

Overview
Get a bird’s eye view of the natural wonders in Namibia as you fly over deserts and rivers, canyons and bays, in what is often described as ‘the flight of a lifetime.’ Set off from the Swakopmund airstrip to the Kuiseb Canyon, running along a sea of flaming red and orange dunes and then on to Tsondabvlei. The landscape is a golden sea dappled with red-orange triangular formations rising as if to touch the sky. Looking further, you’ll see the awe-inspiring dunes at Sossusvlei, which are the highest in the world. These dunes are as high as 305 metres and stretch 480 kilometres along the Namibian coast. The colours and shadows of these gigantic mountains of sand change by the hour from beige to rust-red to purple. Flying over the forbidden Diamond area, you will see the remains of the old diamond camps here. Continuing over the ‘sea of sand’, you approach the shore at Conception Bay and as you soar along its coastline, see the spectacular remains of a German liner, blending harmoniously with the powdery sands. It looks as though the ship is sailing through the desert itself. Moving northward, you see the never-ending battle for supremacy between the sand and the sea as you fly over the “Lange Wand”, a 500 feet high dune rising from the coastline. You are welcomed by a number of birds as the plane nears the Sandwich Harbour, a large saltwater lagoon and home to an incredible variety of birds and one of southern Africa’s biggest natural bird sanctuaries. You fly next to Walvis Bay, Namibia’s only deep sea harbour, and then, it’s time to stretch your legs: visit recreational resorts-Dolphin Beach and Longbeach. This is a trip that captures the essence of Namibia’s beauty and will become a cherished memory for posterity.
