Abu Simbel Temple Tour |
See the 3000 year old temples at Abu Simbel and learn about ancient Egyptian civilization
| Overview | |
Perhaps after the great pyramids of Giza, the Abu Simbel temples are the most familiar image of ancient Egypt. Take a trip to the Abu Simbel temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on the western bank of Nile in the south of Aswan. The main temple is dedicated to the sun Gods, Amon-Re and Re-Horakhte. To the north of the main temple is a smaller temple built to honour Ramesses’ wife Nefertari and Goddess Hathor. The antiqueness of the Abu Simbel temples, their architecture and the conservation efforts are all great reasons to pay a visit to these relics of ancient Egypt.
