The Bolivian administrative capital La Paz is the world’s highest capital city at 3600 meters. Ensconced in a canyon beside the Altiplano (high plateau) with the triple-peaked Illmani mountain watching over it, La Paz offers a slice of history alongside its glass sheathed buildings. Stroll down colorful streets, visit handicraft markets brimming with colored tissue, musical instruments and silver plates and marvel at the Cathedral in Plaza Murillo. A high dome, thick walls and enormous stained glass windows make it a sight to behold. The Valley of the Moon has a fascinating profusion of eroded pinnacles and canyons, creating the image of a lunar landscape. Immerse yourself in this enigmatic city on the flanks of the Andes.
