Situated in the heart of south-western France, Toulouse is an enchanting mix of the ancient and the modern. With a year-long packed calendar of cultural events and art and music festivals, it is a city that seduces and intrigues.

Its 2000-year-old history is reflected in its distinctive architecture of brick and tiles that is typical of the cities, villages and farms of the Midi-Pyrenees region.

Among the iconic landmarks that you will see are the Cathédrale St-Etienne, the Museum of Modern Art and the Canal de Brienne. The Canal du Midi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was originally built as a shortcut between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. The 240 km long canal was designed in 1667 and it took 10 years, and 12,000 workers, to complete it, a tremendous undertaking in the 17th century!
