Shanghai is China’s second largest city, the largest port of the country, and its only real metropolis. The lively atmosphere, impressive architecture, cultural events and great shopping opportunities make Shanghai an idealdestination for visitors with all kinds of interests. St. Ignatius Cathedral or Xujiahui Cathedral is a 90-year old Roman Catholic cathedral and the largest Catholic Church, located in Shanghai. Its vast interior of altars, stone columns, and Gothic ceilings are a fascinating evidence of European influence. The famous Jade Buddha Temple is one of the few remaining Buddhist temples in Shanghai and now houses a 2 metre-high white jade Buddha statue. The Old City of Shanghai is one of China’s premier sights, still retaining its well-preserved old look.
