Herculaneum and Pompeii Tour - From Sorrento
Explore the amphitheatre, baths and villas of Herculaneum and Pompeii
| Attractions and things to do - Herculaneum and Pompeii Tour - From Sorrento | |
Take a journey back in time to the days of the Romans in the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Pompeii is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and draws travellers from across the world each year to explore its ruins. Pompeii was buried under lava and ash from Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and lay forgotten for hundreds of years. The well preserved ruins of this ancient city now offer an insight into Roman history. Frescoes and mosaics adorn some of the walls of its structures, like the Dionysiac Frieze and the city has baths, an amphitheatre, Roman temples and brothels. The ruins of the residential Roman city of Herculaneum are also impressive and it has one of the best preserved Roman baths in Europe. Offering a glimpse into the past, the ruins of the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum are a must see in Italy.
