Take an early morning walk around the nature treasure trove that is the tribal district of Rotorua. Follow your naturalist guide to hear the dawn chorus of the endangered species of Bird called the kokako. This native bird of New Zealand found in the North Island is an endangered species. The north island kokako has a haunting, beautiful song that you will find hard to forget. Spend the morning listening to their beautiful songs and if you’re lucky, you might just catch sight of one of these rare endangered species of bird. You will be helping in the conservation of these rare birds as 10% of the cost of this tour will be donated to the Kaharoa kokako Trust that has taken many steps to help stem the disappearance of these birds from our planet.
