Roman Ruins of Herculaneum - Tour from Sorrento |
Take a trip back in time as you explore the frescoes, murals, Roman baths and houses of Herculaneum
| Overview | |
Roman baths, houses of patricians, beautiful mosaics and murals - discover the way the Romans lived from the ruins of the ancient city of Herculaneum in Italy. A famous archaeological site, Herculaneum was buried under a river of volcanic mud when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, which also destroyed Pompeii. Herculaneum makes for a fascinating study of Roman life with well preserved ruins like the Suburban Baths, Forum Baths, Argus House and House of the Deer. Some of these structures have impressive murals, paintings and floor mosaics depicting scenes from daily life. A tour of this archaeological site is a memorable journey back in time to see how the Romans lived in Italy.
