Ranthambore National Park - The Ranthambore Regency (From Jaipur) |
Spot the celebrated Indian Tiger and a variety of other animals at Ranthambore
| Overview | |
Don’t miss the Ranthambore National Park while on a tour in India. One of the most popular wildlife reserves in India, it is home to the celebrated Indian Tiger. The Park is a part of the famous Project Tiger, a wildlife conservation project initiated in India in 1972 to protect the tigers. It strives to maintain a viable tiger population in their natural environment. The Park is also home to a variety of other animals like the sambar deer (the largest Asiatic deer), chital, nilgai, gaur and leopards, hyenas and chinkaras. In addition to this, there are over 50 species of aquatic plants and more than 200 species of colourful birds. Nestled between the Vindhya and Aravali Hills, the Park encompasses the 10th-century Ranthambore fort which adds to the charm of the Park. The hill-top fort was originally built in the 10th century A.D. Inside the fort are temples and palaces, standing testimony to a period gone by.
