The visitor to the Penang Butterfly Farm will be surrounded by myriad fluttering butterflies. The Farm is the first to be set up in the tropics. It is now a “must-see” for visitors since its opening in 1986. It is known and respected internationally as a breeding centre for these beautiful creatures. The Botanic Gardens, opened in 1884, is popularly known as the “Waterfall Gardens”. Set in 29 acres of lush greenery it is Penang’s natural heritage. Besides being the storehouse for Malaysia’s unique flora it also serves as the ‘green lung’ for urban Penang.
