Take an exciting nature and wildlife tour to Bandipur National Park which is famous for tigers, gaur (Indian bison), chital (spotted deer), elephants, sambars, panthers and langurs.The National Park covers an area of 880 square kilometres and is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve – the first in India - which includes other sanctuaries adjoining it like the Madhumalai Wildlife Sanctuary, Nagarhole and Wayanad. Bandipur was among the first nine tiger reserves created in India as the launch of Project Tiger in 1972, a wildlife conservation project initiated to protect the tigers. It strives to maintain a viable tiger population in their natural environment. The three perennial rivers that flow through the park make it an attractive watering hole for a variety of animals and birds. The flora and fauna of the park is interesting: dry deciduous scrub and southern tropical moist mixed deciduous forest cover most of the reserve area. A visit to Bandipur is an excellent opportunity to see a variety of wildlife in their natural habitat, including endangered species like the four-horned antelope and the mouse deer among others.
