Auckland is a large wine producing region with around 100 vineyards and wineries. Some of New Zealand's oldest vineyards are in Auckland which is best known for its Bordeaux style wines. Get back on the nature trail and take a guided tour of Muriwai beach - one of NZ's most magnificent black sand beaches. Otakamiro Point, at the southern tip of this craggy, windswept shore, is the site of one of the country's few mainland Gannet breeding colonies. You might even get to see hundreds of birds in their natural habitat on the shore.
