The Karen people (originally from Myanmar) form the largest of the major hill tribes of Thailand. They live in isolated picturesque villages of Northern Thailand. Each of the many sections of this ethnic group has their own style of dress. They are skilled weavers and makers of wooden musical instruments other crafted articles. Located just over two hour’s drive from Chiang Mai in northern Thailand is the region of Chiang Dao. It is a region of spectacular forested mountains, several hill tribes, villages, deep valleys, fast rivers, enthralling limestone caves and magical temples. Still relatively untouched and inexpensive, Chiang Dao offers a host of attractions and activities to satisfy any visitor. Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia. The country has so many attractions that you may find it difficult to see them all in one visit.
