National Musuem

Discover the fascinating history of Thailand unfolding itself at Southeast Asia’s largest museum

Attractions and things to do - National Museum in Bangkok

Visit Bangkok’s National Museum, the largest museum in Southeast Asia and which also boasts the largest collection of Thai art and artifacts in the country. Dating back to 1874, the National Museum offers a superb introduction to Thailand's cultural and artistic heritage. Spanning the ages - from prehistory to the present - are sculptures, Khon masks, ceramics, clothing and textiles among other items. There are some wonderful examples of Thai architecture, including sacred chapels, red teak houses and beautiful pavilions. The museum's star exhibit is the Inscription No.1 from the Sukhothai era. Supposedly written by the great King Ramkhamhaeng himself, it is regarded as the Thailand's first work of literature.

At Bangkok’s National Museum learn about Thailand’s culture, history and religion, all in a day
