Namibia Flying Safari

Namibia Flying Safari

Encapsulate the real essence of Namibia-wild, untamed, beautiful and natural on this safari tour!

Overview
How does the thought of visiting Namibia’s Etosha game reserves, the Namib Desert, the Walvis Bay and the highest dunes in the world, all in seven days, sound to you? Wonderful? A flying tour makes it possible. Begin your expedition from Hardap Dam, which at 25 square kilometres, is the biggest in Namibia. As you fly over the Kalahari Desert, you will be awed by its arid beauty! Get a bird’s eye view of the extinct Brukkaros volcano that opens up to a vast area of boulder studded plains and hills leading to the Fish River Canyon. Visit the 160 kilometres long and 550 metre deep canyon, before you board the flight. Flying over its steep and winding gorges, you head towards the gorgeous Namib Desert.

The next morning, trek to the highest dunes in the world at Sossusvlei. They escalate to a height of 305 metres and runs 480 kilometres along the Namibia Coast. The dunes come in impressive colours: from burnt orange to blood red to deepest mauve. 60 kilometres away stands the steep Sesriem Canyon that gets its name from the early Afrikaner trekkers who used six leather thongs to get a bucket to reach the water far below.

From Swakopmund airport, you head towards the Walvis Bay from where you embark on a cruise that takes you into Namibia’s only deep sea harbour. Cruise along the Oyster Platforms to the Pelican Point lighthouse and you might see somersaulting dolphins that make this cruise worthwhile. You could spot three types of dolphins here - heavyside, dusky and Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. Enjoy a glass of bubbly or wine with fresh oysters as you soak up some sun on the deck.

Next, fly towards the Twyfelfontein as you’ll cross the Skeleton Coast. Explore the boulder studded slopes of Twyfelfontein and its paintings and ancient engravings. Its Organ Pipes area is covered with angular columns of dolerite. Transfer to a lodge on the border of Etosha National Park and begin your sojourn into this wild habitat. Etosha, also called the ‘Great White Place’ due to its large dusty depression of salt and clay, has permanent springs that attract many animals. If you think this is one of those game reserves where you’d be happy if you spot a wild bore at least, think again! With lions, rhinos, zebras, dainty springbok and elephants, game spotting is guaranteed! From leisure to scenic environs to wildlife to aquatic animals, this flying tour of Namibia will be a wonderful experience!
