This tour will take you to Mysore and cities nearby that are historically and culturally rich. At one time, the Hoysalas ruled over this region. They enriched the area with temples and monuments that are considered fine examples of one of the most artistically-rich periods in India’s cultural development.Mysore is famous for silk, sandalwood and incense, art and of course the Palace. In fact it is known as the 'City Of Palaces' as it is home to many monuments which are excellent examples of the Dravidian style of architecture. Somnathpur is famous for the 13th century Keshava Temple, a remarkably well-preserved monument whose architecture and carvings are impressive. This tour will also take you to Halebid and Belur where the architecture and carvings of the temples rival that of Khajuraho. The temples have an abundance of floral and animal motifs or divine figures that are separated by deep grooves and hollows. Any visitor to India would not like to miss this historical and cultural tour to Mysore and surrounds.
