Visit Murano, the most visited Venetian island, is famous for the exquisite glasswork produced there. Venetians have been making crystal and glass since the 10th Century after merchants brought back the secrets of production from the East. The industry was moved to the island of Murano in the 13th century. The island of Burano is famous for its lace industry. This pretty fishing village has many streets and canals lined with bright, pastel-coloured houses.
