Pack your trekking shoes for a 6-day climb up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Africa’s highest mountain and one of the highest extinct volcanoes in the world, this is an experience of a lifetime! Set out from the Machame Gate and trek through thick montane forests. From Machame hut, (located at 3000 metres), take the ridge route and cut through moor land as you head for the Shira hut (at 3840 metres). The hut lies on the Shira plateau, west of the Kibo peak and east of Mount Meru and offers a panoramic view of the surrounds. See the change in landscape from the moor lands to the alpine desert as you head towards the Barranco Valley. The real challenge climbing Mount Kilimanjaro begins from the Great Barranco Wall where you literally have to scramble up a steep wall and then take the trail meandering along the Karanga River. Trek towards the Karanga Valley and cross a series of ridges and valleys en route to the Barafu Hut (4550 metres). At Barafu, you will be just 1345 metres away from the summit! The most interesting part of this Kilimanjaro climbing tour is the night trek. At 1 or 2 am, ascend rocky slopes to the Rebmann and Ratzel Glaciers, and reach the crater rim at the 5685 metres high Stella point. Enjoy a spectacular sunrise from the roof of Africa. If the weather permits, take the two hour hike to the Uhuru Peak. An exhilarating experience, this climbing tour up Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Mountain will be unforgettable!
