Tour the Moscow Metro, one of the largest and grandest underground systems in the world. Meant to showcase Soviet Union’s achievements to Russians and visitors from abroad, the Metro was constructed during Stalin's rule to be the "people's palaces". Moscow Metro stations are all uniquely designed with decorative elements including mosaics, statues and marble floors. The statues are mostly of everyday heroes and these, along with the depiction of scenes from the communist era, provide an interesting insight into life during Stalin’s reign.
