The Mountain of Montserrat lies only 40 kilometres (30 miles) inland from Barcelona and is one of Catalonia's most important religious sites At the summit of the mountain you will find a monastery which was once believed to be the home of the Holy Grail. This popular day trip from Barcelona takes you to the mountain of Montserrat, where you will enjoy a guided tour of the Monastery. You will also have plenty of time to explore the stunning setting and the unusual rock formations. Cruise passengers: This tour can easily be taken if arriving in Barcelona by cruise ship; it will take you around 55 minutes to reach the start point. Take bus 17 from the port and transfer to metro line 1 at Urquinaona from where it is just 2 stops to Universitat. Alternatively a taxi should take 15-20 mins and cost no more than 10Euros.
