For all those who enjoy long walks, surrounded by a beautiful landscape, half an hour away from Santiago city, along Maipo Valley, you can find the entrance to the protected area of El Morado National Monument. Begin your hiking excursion on the soft slopes that intertwine with the trail of El Morado National Monument. Take in the breathtaking scenery as you make your way upwards to the buttoned up San Francisco Glacier and to the sparkling Lagoon El Morado. Walk in the cold ‘Grey Stone Zone’ of San Jose volcano, to scrutinize myriad marine fossils, scattered ubiquitously across the valley. Contrasting to the gloominess of this zone are the illuminating mineral colors of the Andes. Pause for a sumptuous picnic lunch and capture unforgettable views of the snow-capped El Morado. At sunset you become a live spectator to an orchestra of hues unseen anywhere in the world!
