Khari Baoli in Delhi is Asia’s largest wholesale spice market. Set in the bustling, crowded area of the famous Lal Quila (Red Fort), it is a really busy area with shops on both sides of narrow crowded streets. The market was built in the time of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan and has a fortified gate at one end. The displays of hundreds of spices and condiments are arranged in neat colourful piles making it a visual treat.
