The name Pamukkale literally means “cotton castle” in Turkish. Layers of white limestone create a 2700 meters long and 160m high cotton colored “castle”. It is here where the ancient city of Hierapolis was built. The Greeks have always had innovative in their methods of healing—they used the thermal springs at Hierapolis for healing spa treatments. You’ll see the remains of the ancient Greek city that was once a place of healing. The thermal springs have actually been used by humans since as early as the 2nd century B.C. Be sure to take a dip in this amazing geological phenomenon. Pamukkale, as well as the ancient city of Hierapolis are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
