Deogarh Mahal, built in 1670 AD as the residence of the Rawats of Deogarh stands atop a hill and offers a breathtaking view of the Aravali mountain range and the lakes nearby. With its battlements, domes, turrets and huge gateways, it is a picturesque sight. Today the palace is one of Rajasthan’s finest heritage hotels offering a fascinating mix of regal grandeur and modern comforts. Enjoy the luxury of this palace-hotel which offers excellent cuisine, a swimming pool and Jacuzzi and an indoor gym among others. The palace also has some exciting rooms to browse through - Sheesh Mahal - the colourful hall of mirrors, is just one of them. Step out and explore the town which is also famous for its school of miniature painting. Scenes from the private lives and court ceremonies of the ruling Rawats and occasionally episodes from the life of the Hindu God Krishna were popular subjects for the artistes. Frescoes of this art form can also be seen on the walls of the fort.
