Beijing is almost synonymous with the greatest man-made structure ever built and the only one visible from the Moon. Stretching some 6,400 kilometres, the Great Wall of China is one of the most enduring symbols of China. Hiking along the Great Wall is a great way to see first-hand this magnificent man-made creation. The Great Wall from Jinshanling (Gold Mountain) in Hebei to Simatai in Beijing is the best preserved stretch. Jinshanling is a remote and isolated section of the Great Wall. The Simatai Great Wall is celebrated for its steepness, queerness and intactness. The Simatai Great Wall lies on steep mountain slopes in Miyun County at the northern border of Beijing. The stretch at Simatai retains the original look of the Great Wall built during the Ming Dynasty, and is considered by many as the most beautiful stretch. This tour is a unique opportunity to trek the 12 kilometres between Jinshanling to Simatai, along this beautiful stretch of the Great Wall, which has been left close to intact.
