Discover one of Spain’s greatest splendours, often referred to as ‘The eighth wonder of the world’ on this tour of Granada. The Alhambra Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is set in a stunning location overlooking the city of Granada, and nestling at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Arguably the finest example of Arab architecture in the whole of Spain, the palace and its gardens were built as a re-creation of ‘heaven on earth’, with cool patios, fountains and intricate carvings still as clear as when it was first built. The Alhambra is composed of three parts: the Royal Palace, the gardens of Generalife and the fortress of Alcazaba. The inspiration for the gardens of Generalife is supposed to be the Koranic description of Paradise. The rest of the city is equally fascinating with its spice market and an impressive Cathedral.
