Giants Causeway Road Trip |
Leave Belfast for the day on a road trip to Giant’s Causeway with splendid scenery along the way
| Overview | |
For travelers who are either on a tight timetable or a tight budget, but who still wish to see Northern Ireland's number one attraction, this is the tour for you! Giant’s Causeway is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as a National Nature Reserve protected by the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland. Although it was the result of an ancient volcanic eruption, there is much Irish folklore about this place. It is said that the Irish giant Finn McCool built the causeway to walk to Scotland to battle his Scottish counterpart Benandonner. Finn became tired, so he lay down to take a nap. To protect him from Benandonner, his wife Oonagh draped a blanket overtop of him so that he could pretend that he was in fact their baby son. Whether or not you believe in folklore, you’re bound to be impressed by this celebrated natural rock formation.
