This holiday, trek, swim or snorkel in the Galapagos Islands. Beginning from the colonial capital of Quito, spend the day exploring one of South America’s best-preserved colonial cities. Your island adventure begins as you arrive at Galapagos Islands and board the ‘Eden’. Cruise to Las Bachas beach and get a taste of the islands’ wildlife at a sea turtle nesting area, followed by a refreshing dip in the Pacific. Spend the evening sipping cocktails under a starry sky and luxuriating in the comforts of the cruise ship. The next day, visit North Seymour and spot red pouches and blue footed boobies followed by a trek through the prickly pear forests of Santa Fe. Cool off with a snorkeling adventure with playful sea lions. Drift on to Espanola Island and watch sea lion pups sun bathing with marine iguanas and blue footed boobies. Add a dash of marine wildlife as you snorkel or swim off the shores of Gardner Bay. Further delight waits at Punta Suarez where you can trek across lava terrain, accompanied by albatrosses and herons. Continue on to Floreana Island where you will be captivated by green sand beaches set in dramatic contrast to pink flamingoes. No island holiday will be complete without a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Centre and you can also pick up some souvenirs at local shops. Added to this, Santa Cruz also offers the rare opportunity to walk amongst giant tortoises.For a glimpse of speedy penguins and fur seals, visit the red sand shores of Egas Port and revel in the unusual lava terrain of Bartolome. Bird lovers will have a treat in store at Genovesa Island and Darwin Bay as a cacophony of colours and sounds surround you. Wind up your island exploration with a trek through the ‘scalesia’ forests of Santa Cruz or walk amongst giant tortoises.
