A gamut of activities will leave you spoilt for choice as you spend 10 days surrounded by a wildlife extravaganza in the Galapagos Islands. Beginning from the colonial capital of Quito, spend the day savoring the old world charm of one of South America’s best-preserved colonial cities. The next day, your island adventure will begin as you arrive at Galapagos Islands and board the Mary Anne. Set out for South Plaza Island and you will be welcomed by sea lions, swallow tailed gulls and tropical birds. Add a dash of marine wildlife as you snorkel or swim off the shores of Gardner Bay. Further delight waits at Punta Suarez where you can trek across lava terrain, accompanied by blue footed boobies, albatrosses and herons. The highlight of the island though is a magnificent blowhole shooting water 75 feet in the air! Continue on to Floreana Island where you will be captivated by the green sand beaches set in dramatic contrast to pink flamingoes. No island holiday will be complete without a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Centre and you can also pick up some souvenirs at local shops. Added to this, Santa Cruz also offers the rare opportunity to walk amongst giant tortoises. Follow it up with some marine adventure as you engage with sea lions and snorkel at North Seymour. Dip your feet in the waters of the Pacific as a wet landing takes you to the Sombrero Chino, shaped unusually like a Chinese Hat! The crowning glory for bird lovers’ will follow with a visit to Tower Island and Darwin Island where a cacophony of colors and sounds will greet you. Puerto Egas, Santiago, Sullivan Bay and Bartolome also offer unique experiences as you walk across recent lava flow, swim with playful sea lions, catch a glimpse of the speedy Galapagos penguins or simply revel in the beauty of the islands’ beaches. Bid farewell to Galapagos with one last bird watching excursion to Mosquera, a small sandy islet almost devoid of vegetation. As your journey winds to an end, you will be left with delightful memories of this Galapagos Island adventure.
