Portugal is known for its amazing fishing conditions. The Mediterranean Sea is home to many of the reef fish lusted after by fisher folk around the world. Sea Bream, Groupa, Horse Mackerel, Red Sea Bream, Mackerel, Small Conger, Sole and many others are abundant in these reefs. Algarve is considered to be one of the best reef fishing places in the world due to the influence of the warm currents of the Mediterranean Sea. What makes it so ideal? Temperature breaks created where bodies of warm and cool water are pushed up against each other also act as a less tangible form of structure which attracts bait and fishes.
