Cast your line in Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake and the world’s second largest freshwater lake and catch cichlid fish. Fly from the Seronera airstrip to the south-western region of Lake Victoria and head to the 240 square kilometres Rubondo Island. The 68,800 square kilometres, Lake Victoria is renowned for a large variety of cichlid fish, which by itself is a unique phenomenon. At Rubondo Island, enjoy a boating safari into the Mlaga Swamps and spot a variety of birds like herons, cormorants, kingfishers, flycatchers, hornbills, storks and fish eagles. Sport fishing is extremely popular here, but if you aren’t a fishing enthusiast, enjoy a walk in the forest and see a variety of flora and fauna. Armed rangers will accompany you on this nature walk. An excellent environment to relax and fish, this trip to Rubondo Island in the Lake Victoria region will rejuvenate you.
