Gaunt and majestic, the Massada (Hebrew for fortress) fortress of King Herod is situated on top of an isolated rock cliff at the western end of the Judean Desert. It towers 430 m. above the Dead Sea.

Ein Gedi Spa is located in the Judean Desert on the shores of the Dead Sea.
