Mark the zero latitude as you visit the Equator Complex in Ciudad Mitad del Mundo (City of the Middle of the World), just 25 minutes outside of Quito. The famous Equator Line Monument here is Ecuador's most visited tourist attraction. The monument is said to stand exactly on the Equator as marked by the French Geodesic Mission in 1736. The 40 metre-high pyramid-shaped monument is topped by a brass globe and houses an ethnographic museum inside. Get your pictures clicked as you stand on the famous yellow line that represents the Equator! Attempt to balance a raw egg on the head of a nail at the very centre of the earth, a feat actually possible only here! So if you want to see the ‘best of both worlds’, then this tour is a must-do.
