Explore the historical gem of Ephesus. The city itself is considered an outdoor museum. Walking through the city brings about a sense of awe in most people. It is amazing to consider the amount of work that went into the monuments and structures without the modern technology that is used today. The highlights within Ephesus include the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. The temple has been rebuilt many times over the centuries. Today there are only ruins. The temple’s guardian is the Goddess Artemis, a symbol of abundance, hunting and wild life. The original statue of Artemis was removed from Ephesus and is exhibited in the Selcuk Museum. Ephesus, once the trade centre of the ancient world, is today an important tourism centre in Turkey.
