Enjoy New Zealand’s native flora and fauna set amongst fresh water springs and streams at the Rainbow Springs Nature Park in Rotorua. See wild Rainbow and Brown Trout, and many species of New Zealand’s native birds. Be mesmerized by the seemingly motionless tuatara, only found at Rainbow Springs in Rotorua. Take a leisurely stroll through the native bush and view native birds. Kiwi Encounter within the Rainbow Springs park is a unique working hatchery and rearing facility for visitors to view and educate themselves about kiwi – New Zealand’s rare and endangered national icon. Rainbow Springs has been spearheading efforts to save the kiwi, from extinction. Kiwi Encounter has a fabulous open plan nocturnal area which is home to the adult kiwi. Wonderful educational exhibits and a superb audio visual provide an additional understanding of these unique birds. See the hatchery and nursery where the young chicks are raised by specialist husbandry staff for release back into the wild.
