Elephantine & St. Simion Monastery

Take a historical tour to the temples and ruins of the Elephantine Island and St. Simeon Monastery

Overview
Set out on a felucca on the Nile to the Elephantine Island and the Saint Simeon Monastery to discover more about the ancient Egyptian culture and history. Explore the stone temple dedicated to the Egyptian god Khnum and understand the mechanism of the Roman ‘Nilometre’.

Take a camel ride to the ruins of the Coptic Saint Simeon Monastery, dating back to the 6th century. You will be surprised to see that though this Coptic monastery is in ruins, many of its main features like the oblong, domed church, its frescos, the tower, the tombstones and the kilns are well preserved.
