Elephant Village Tour in Pattaya
See the sanctuary for Thailand’s elephants, and get a chance to ride and scrub their backs
| Attractions and things to do - Elephant Village Tour in Pattaya | |
Get up close and personal with the magnificent elephants of Thailand in their very own sanctuary. Located just outside Pattaya city in Nong Prue, the Elephant Village is a non-profit sanctuary for elephants that are either too old or injured to do any heavy work in the jungles of Thailand. The Elephant Village was opened in 1973. These elephants, through reasons of injury or ill health, can no longer be used as a part of the backbone of heavy work in the jungles of Thailand. Due to their diminishing habitat, it is also no longer possible to return them to the wild. A visit to the Elephant Village is not only unique experience, but it is also a lifesaver because the fees paid by the visitors contribute to the very survival of the elephants. Elephants in Thailand work long and hard in the jungles doing heavy work. The Pattaya Elephant Village provides these magnificent beasts a safe home and the visitors get to see them from really close quarters. Get a first hand feel of what an elephant’s lunch is like. Ride them into the jungle or even give them a bath! A holiday to Pattaya is incomplete without a trip to the Elephant Village.
