Ecotour to Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary (Ex-Agra) |
Spot Siberian cranes, kingfishers and other birds at the Keoladeo Ghana National Park in Bharatpur
| Overview | |
Visit one of India’s most famous bird sanctuaries, the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, also called the Keoladeo Ghana National Parkand spot many exotic species of birds. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to over 300 species of birds and a popular stop-over point for migratory birds like the Siberian crane. You could also spot Saras cranes, Cormorants and Kingfishers that inhabit this beautiful landscape. In winters (October to March), the sanctuary is particularly attractive to visitors because of the large number of migratory birds that are present at the time. Bharatpur was once a semi-arid region which would only fill with water in the monsoon months and remain dry for the rest of the year. The Maharaja of Bharatpur, to create a good shooting range, diverted water from a nearby irrigation canal to the park and created what is today India’s most famous bird sanctuary. It used to be a favourite hunting ground for the British viceroys before it became the Keoladeo Ghana National Park. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the Siberian crane. Pre-book your tour to this beautiful bird sanctuary to avoid disappointment.
