Enjoy an educational adventure with rare and endangered species like the cheetah and wild dogs at the De Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Centre. If you missed the elusive cheetahs on your wildlife safari, don't be disappointed. An hour away from Johannesburg and neighbouring Hartbeespoort Dam, De Wildt Centre offers a unique opportunity to get close to cheetahs, wild dogs, antelopes, the brown hyena, vultures and owls. Lying at the base of Magaliesberg Mountain and spread over 168 hectares, this wildlife refuge was established by Ann van Dyk to breed and research endangered species in the 'race against extinction' programme. The first to breed the king cheetah, this wildlife centre is truly amazing for its efforts over the last 20 years! You'll also see wild dogs interacting in a pack, playing and eating. Don't forget to keep an eye out for riverine rabbits and blue duikers. A great place to learn some interesting facts about these fascinating creatures and their struggle for existence, a visit to De Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Centre is a truly special experience.
