Cultural Evening: Kathakali Dance Performance
Watch a Kathakali performance – a superb blend of visual imagery and graceful dance
| Attractions and things to do - Cultural Evening: Kathakali Dance Performance | |
India is home to many classical dance and drama forms. One of the most popular and spectacular dance-drama forms is the Kathakali of Kerala. Dating back to the 17th century, the dance-drama involves exaggerated movements, heavy makeup and flamboyant costume. Watch the artistes prepare for the performance as they put on their elaborate makeup according to the established code. The artists use gestures to convey emotions and entire stories. Usually enacting themes and stories from two of India’s best loved epics, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana, the performance is visually arresting, extremely graceful and magnificent in execution.
