Enjoy a family vacation in Vietnam as you trail into the Cuc Phuong National Park and explore a wealth of wildlife, widespread flora and centuries old caves. Spread over 25,000 hectares, the Cuc Phuong National Park in the south of Hanoi is renowned for its botanical richness, primeval forests and over 120 species of birds. In 1962, the Cuc Phuong was established as the first national park of Vietnam. As you explore further, you’ll come across ancient trunks with thick clusters of roots, parasitic plants and indigenous creepers. Many tree species found here have been introduced from Burma, Borneo and India. Hike into the dense forest of the national park and spot thousand-year-old dracontomelum and parashorea trees surrounded with coral, vanilla, snow-white and butterfly orchid blooms. You could have a chance encounter with a panther or bear, but creatures like monkeys, flying squirrels and pheasants are found everywhere in the park, so keep your camera ready! If you are visiting this place in April and May, you’ll see a swarming mass of colourful butterflies, a variety of beetles and rare species of birds. Tropical plants and exotic animals abound in the jungle region of Thanh Hoa, making this park home to an extraordinary variety of species. Do visit Nguoi Xua (a cave of early man), ancient tombs with Neolithic remains and the Hang Dan cave known for its bat population. With ancient caves, relics of a bygone era, age-old forests and a flourishing birdlife, this visit to the Cuc Phuong National Park will be a perfect family vacation.
