Take a trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels and discover some of the lesser-known facts about the Vietnam War. It took about 25 years to build this underground city, which has living rooms, kitchens, hospitals, weapon factories, storage facilities and command centres. The tunnel system was home to around 10,000 people who lived underground for several years. At the peak of the Vietnam War, large vents were installed to hear helicopters approaching and smaller vents for ventilation, which included several hidden trap doors. To explore the tunnel, you’ll have to pass through a trap door to the first level, which is about 10 feet below the surface. Make your way along narrow passageways to see bunkers, a kitchen and a hospital, apart from other remnants of the township. From the Cu Chi Tunnels, continue to Tay Ninh and visit the temple of the Cao Dai sect. The Cao Dai Temple brings together all the religions of the world under a single roof, which includes Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Jainism, Taoism and Hinduism. Stroll along the balcony and attend the prayer service, which is held four times a day. The interiors are very colourful and have columns adorned with Vietnamese decoration.
