A trip to the Mayan archaeological site of Chichen Itza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a must-do for all visitors to Mexico. Scale up the Pyramid of Kukulkan at the archaeological zone of El Castillo in Chichen Itza. The pyramid represents a Mayan calendar made in stone with carvings of the plumed serpent (Kukulkan) on its stairways. See the ball court flanked by temples and high walls. You’ll come across carvings depicting players with padding on their elbows and knees and players wielding bats. See the Temple of the Warriors complex comprising a large stepped pyramid flanked by rows of carved columns depicting warriors. Explore this extremely well-preserved Mayan archaeological site and get a glimpse into the culture and history of this ancient civilization.
