Niah Caves and Lambir National Park Tour in Miri |
Trek to the waterfalls of the Lambir National Park and see prehistoric cave paintings at Niah
| Overview | |
Go on an archaeological and nature tour outside Miri to the Lambir National Park and the Niah Caves. The Lambir National Park, about 30 kilometres south of Miri town, is filed with a wide diversity of plant life. Up to 157 species of birds and a variety of bats, monkeys and pangolins have been spotted here. Trek up to the magnificent waterfalls in this nature reserve before making your way to the historical Niah caves. South Asia’s oldest human remains were found in these world-famous caves. Estimated to be about 40,000 years old, these caves contain many relics of prehistoric human life. An Iban longhouse (a longhouse is a whole village of a community under one long roof) is great for a cultural insight into this indigenous aboriginal tribe of Malaysia. See the wide range of fine and beautifully made handicraft and ordinary household items for daily use and you will marvel at the intricate designs and clever colour combination.
